Follow a recitation
Upload a recording, or pick a prayer from Makkah and Madinah. Every ayah and every word in it is found, and marked as the reciter reaches it.
How it works
Your browser reads the sound of the file and sends it, in short pieces, to a speech model trained on Quran recitation. Several pieces are heard at once, so an hour takes a minute or two.
Then the whole recording is matched against the Quran at once. Knowing what comes before and after, it finds which ayat are recited, in what order (including repeats and changes of surah), and the moment each word begins.
Nothing is stored: the audio is forgotten as soon as it is heard, and your file never leaves your device.
Questions
Which recordings work best?
Any clear recitation: studio recordings, a phone held up in the masjid, Taraweeh and Qiyam videos, a teacher's lesson. Heavy music or talking over the recitation makes it harder.
Can it follow a reciter who repeats or jumps?
Yes. A reciter going back over a few ayat, moving to another surah, or pausing to explain is followed; the parts that are not recitation are simply left out.
Can I use the timings in my own videos?
Yes. Download the captions as SRT or VTT and import them into your editor, or take the word timings as JSON.
