   Read the passage · Yaseen 71–83

   أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَآ أَنْعَٰمًۭا فَهُمْ لَهَا مَٰلِكُونَ٧١

   Do they not see that We have created for them from what Our hands have made, grazing livestock, and [then] they are their owners?

   وَذَلَّلْنَٰهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ٧٢

   And We have tamed them for them, so some of them they ride, and some of them they eat.

   وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ٧٣

   And for them therein are [other] benefits and drinks, so will they not be grateful?

   وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةًۭ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ٧٤

   But they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped.

   لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌۭ مُّحْضَرُونَ٧٥

   They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in attendance.

   فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ٧٦

   So let not their speech grieve you. Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they declare.

   أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍۢ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ٧٧

   Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary?

   وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًۭا وَنَسِىَ خَلْقَهُۥ ۖ قَالَ مَن يُحْىِ ٱلْعِظَٰمَ وَهِىَ رَمِيمٌۭ٧٨

   And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"

   قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَهَآ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۢ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ٧٩

   Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing."

   ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ ٱلْأَخْضَرِ نَارًۭا فَإِذَآ أَنتُم مِّنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ٨٠

   [It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.

   أَوَلَيْسَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِقَٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ ٱلْخَلَّٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ٨١

   Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator.

   إِنَّمَآ أَمْرُهُۥٓ إِذَآ أَرَادَ شَيْـًٔا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ٨٢

   His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is.

   فَسُبْحَٰنَ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ٨٣

   So exalted is He in whose hand is the realm of all things, and to Him you will be returned.

2. Maghrib

   17:46

   Al-Balad and Al-Humaza

   Read the passage · Al-Balad

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ١

   I swear by this city, Makkah -

   وَأَنتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ٢

   And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city -

   وَوَالِدٍۢ وَمَا وَلَدَ٣

   And [by] the father and that which was born [of him],

   لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ٤

   We have certainly created man into hardship.

   أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌۭ٥

   Does he think that never will anyone overcome him?

   يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًۭا لُّبَدًا٦

   He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance."

   أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ٧

   Does he think that no one has seen him?

   أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ٨

   Have We not made for him two eyes?

   وَلِسَانًۭا وَشَفَتَيْنِ٩

   And a tongue and two lips?

   وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ١٠

   And have shown him the two ways?

   فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ١١

   But he has not broken through the difficult pass.

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ١٢

   And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?

   فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ١٣

   It is the freeing of a slave

   أَوْ إِطْعَٰمٌۭ فِى يَوْمٍۢ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍۢ١٤

   Or feeding on a day of severe hunger

   يَتِيمًۭا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ١٥

   An orphan of near relationship

   أَوْ مِسْكِينًۭا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍۢ١٦

   Or a needy person in misery

   ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ١٧

   And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.

   أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ١٨

   Those are the companions of the right.

   وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ١٩

   But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left.

   عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌۭ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ٢٠

   Over them will be fire closed in.

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   وَيْلٌۭ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍۢ لُّمَزَةٍ١

   Woe to every scorner and mocker

   ٱلَّذِى جَمَعَ مَالًۭا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ٢

   Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.

   يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَهُۥ٣

   He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

   كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِى ٱلْحُطَمَةِ٤

   No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحُطَمَةُ٥

   And what can make you know what is the Crusher?

   نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ٦

   It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled,

   ٱلَّتِى تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ٧

   Which mounts directed at the hearts.

   إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌۭ٨

   Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them

   فِى عَمَدٍۢ مُّمَدَّدَةٍۭ٩

3. Isha

   19:16

   Read the passage · Al-Fajr

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   وَٱلْفَجْرِ١

   By the dawn

   وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍۢ٢

   And [by] ten nights

   وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ٣

   And [by] the even [number] and the odd

   وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ٤

   And [by] the night when it passes,

   هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌۭ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ٥

   Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

   أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ٦

   Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -

   إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ٧

   [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,

   ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَٰدِ٨

   The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

   وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ٩

   And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

   وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ١٠

   And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -

   ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَٰدِ١١

   [All of] whom oppressed within the lands

   فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ١٢

   And increased therein the corruption.

   فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ١٣

   So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.

   إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ١٤

   Indeed, your Lord is in observation.

   فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ١٥

   And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."

   وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَٰنَنِ١٦

   But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

   كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ١٧

   No! But you do not honor the orphan

   وَلَا تَحَٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ١٨

   And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.

   وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًۭا لَّمًّۭا١٩

   And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,

   وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّۭا جَمًّۭا٢٠

   And you love wealth with immense love.

   كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّۭا دَكًّۭا٢١

   No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -

   وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّۭا صَفًّۭا٢٢

   And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,

   وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ٢٣

   And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?

   يَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى٢٤

   He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."

   فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌۭ٢٥

   So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,

   وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌۭ٢٦

   And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].

   يَٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ٢٧

   [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,

   ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةًۭ مَّرْضِيَّةًۭ٢٨

   Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

   فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَٰدِى٢٩

   And enter among My [righteous] servants

   وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى٣٠

   And enter My Paradise."
