   Read the passage · Al-Qalam

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ١

   Nun. By the pen and what they inscribe,

   مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍۢ٢

   You are not, [O Muhammad], by the favor of your Lord, a madman.

   وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍۢ٣

   And indeed, for you is a reward uninterrupted.

   وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍۢ٤

   And indeed, you are of a great moral character.

   فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ٥

   So you will see and they will see

   بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ٦

   Which of you is the afflicted [by a devil].

   إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ٧

   Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has gone astray from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

   فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ٨

   Then do not obey the deniers.

   وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ٩

   They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you].

   وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍۢ مَّهِينٍ١٠

   And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer

   هَمَّازٍۢ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍۢ١١

   [And] scorner, going about with malicious gossip -

   مَّنَّاعٍۢ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ١٢

   A preventer of good, transgressing and sinful,

   عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ١٣

   Cruel, moreover, and an illegitimate pretender.

   أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍۢ وَبَنِينَ١٤

   Because he is a possessor of wealth and children,

   إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ١٥

   When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

   سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلْخُرْطُومِ١٦

   We will brand him upon the snout.

   إِنَّا بَلَوْنَٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ١٧

   Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning

   وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ١٨

   Without making exception.

   فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ١٩

   So there came upon the garden an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep.

   فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ٢٠

   And it became as though reaped.

   فَتَنَادَوْا۟ مُصْبِحِينَ٢١

   And they called one another at morning,

   أَنِ ٱغْدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰرِمِينَ٢٢

   [Saying], "Go early to your crop if you would cut the fruit."

   فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ٢٣

   So they set out, while lowering their voices,

   أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌۭ٢٤

   [Saying], "There will surely not enter it today upon you [any] poor person."

   وَغَدَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍۢ قَٰدِرِينَ٢٥

   And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able.

   فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ٢٦

   But when they saw it, they said, "Indeed, we are lost;

   بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ٢٧

   Rather, we have been deprived."

   قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ٢٨

   The most moderate of them said, "Did I not say to you, 'Why do you not exalt [Allah]?' "

   قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ٢٩

   They said, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."

   فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَلَٰوَمُونَ٣٠

   Then they approached one another, blaming each other.

   قَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَٰغِينَ٣١

   They said, "O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors.

   عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ٣٢

   Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous."

   كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ٣٣

   Such is the punishment [of this world]. And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

   إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ٣٤

   Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure.

   أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ٣٥

   Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?

   مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ٣٦

   What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge?

   أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَٰبٌۭ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ٣٧

   Or do you have a scripture in which you learn

   إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ٣٨

   That indeed for you is whatever you choose?

   أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ٣٩

   Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge?

   سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ٤٠

   Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible.

   Read the passage · Ash-Shura 47–53

   ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌۭ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلْجَإٍۢ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِيرٍۢ٤٧

   Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from Allah of which there is no repelling. No refuge will you have that day, nor for you will there be any denial.

   فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا۟ فَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا ۖ إِنْ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ۗ وَإِنَّآ إِذَآ أَذَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةًۭ فَرِحَ بِهَا ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَإِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ كَفُورٌۭ٤٨

   But if they turn away - then We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], over them as a guardian; upon you is only [the duty of] notification. And indeed, when We let man taste mercy from us, he rejoices in it; but if evil afflicts him for what his hands have put forth, then indeed, man is ungrateful.

   لِّلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ يَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ إِنَٰثًۭا وَيَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ٱلذُّكُورَ٤٩

   To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what he wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males.

   أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًۭا وَإِنَٰثًۭا ۖ وَيَجْعَلُ مَن يَشَآءُ عَقِيمًا ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۭ قَدِيرٌۭ٥٠

   Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent.

   ۞ وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُكَلِّمَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا وَحْيًا أَوْ مِن وَرَآئِ حِجَابٍ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ رَسُولًۭا فَيُوحِىَ بِإِذْنِهِۦ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِىٌّ حَكِيمٌۭ٥١

   And it is not for any human being that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise.

   وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ رُوحًۭا مِّنْ أَمْرِنَا ۚ مَا كُنتَ تَدْرِى مَا ٱلْكِتَٰبُ وَلَا ٱلْإِيمَٰنُ وَلَٰكِن جَعَلْنَٰهُ نُورًۭا نَّهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن نَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ۚ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِىٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ٥٢

   And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path -

   صِرَٰطِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَلَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ تَصِيرُ ٱلْأُمُورُ٥٣

   The path of Allah, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Unquestionably, to Allah do [all] matters evolve.

   Read the passage · Al-Ahzaab 56–73

   إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا٥٦

   Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.

   إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ لَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًۭا مُّهِينًۭا٥٧

   Indeed, those who abuse Allah and His Messenger - Allah has cursed them in this world and the Hereafter and prepared for them a humiliating punishment.

   وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ بِغَيْرِ مَا ٱكْتَسَبُوا۟ فَقَدِ ٱحْتَمَلُوا۟ بُهْتَٰنًۭا وَإِثْمًۭا مُّبِينًۭا٥٨

   And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned have certainly born upon themselves a slander and manifest sin.

   يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ قُل لِّأَزْوَٰجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَآءِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِن جَلَٰبِيبِهِنَّ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَن يُعْرَفْنَ فَلَا يُؤْذَيْنَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا٥٩

   O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

   ۞ لَّئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ وَٱلْمُرْجِفُونَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ لَنُغْرِيَنَّكَ بِهِمْ ثُمَّ لَا يُجَاوِرُونَكَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا٦٠

   If the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease and those who spread rumors in al-Madinah do not cease, We will surely incite you against them; then they will not remain your neighbors therein except for a little.

   مَّلْعُونِينَ ۖ أَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوٓا۟ أُخِذُوا۟ وَقُتِّلُوا۟ تَقْتِيلًۭا٦١

   Accursed wherever they are found, [being] seized and massacred completely.

   سُنَّةَ ٱللَّهِ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ ٱللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًۭا٦٢

   [This is] the established way of Allah with those who passed on before; and you will not find in the way of Allah any change.

   يَسْـَٔلُكَ ٱلنَّاسُ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ ۖ قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ تَكُونُ قَرِيبًا٦٣

   People ask you concerning the Hour. Say," Knowledge of it is only with Allah. And what may make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near."

   إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ سَعِيرًا٦٤

   Indeed, Allah has cursed the disbelievers and prepared for them a Blaze.

   خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۖ لَّا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّۭا وَلَا نَصِيرًۭا٦٥

   Abiding therein forever, they will not find a protector or a helper.

   يَوْمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يَقُولُونَ يَٰلَيْتَنَآ أَطَعْنَا ٱللَّهَ وَأَطَعْنَا ٱلرَّسُولَا۠٦٦

   The Day their faces will be turned about in the Fire, they will say, "How we wish we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger."

   وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّآ أَطَعْنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَآءَنَا فَأَضَلُّونَا ٱلسَّبِيلَا۠٦٧

   And they will say, "Our Lord, indeed we obeyed our masters and our dignitaries, and they led us astray from the [right] way.

   رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِهِمْ ضِعْفَيْنِ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَٱلْعَنْهُمْ لَعْنًۭا كَبِيرًۭا٦٨

   Our Lord, give them double the punishment and curse them with a great curse."

   يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاذَوْا۟ مُوسَىٰ فَبَرَّأَهُ ٱللَّهُ مِمَّا قَالُوا۟ ۚ وَكَانَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَجِيهًۭا٦٩

   O you who have believed, be not like those who abused Moses; then Allah cleared him of what they said. And he, in the sight of Allah, was distinguished.

   يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًۭا سَدِيدًۭا٧٠

   O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice.

   يُصْلِحْ لَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا٧١

   He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.

   إِنَّا عَرَضْنَا ٱلْأَمَانَةَ عَلَى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱلْجِبَالِ فَأَبَيْنَ أَن يَحْمِلْنَهَا وَأَشْفَقْنَ مِنْهَا وَحَمَلَهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ ظَلُومًۭا جَهُولًۭا٧٢

   Indeed, we offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant.

   لِّيُعَذِّبَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَٱلْمُشْرِكَٰتِ وَيَتُوبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۢا٧٣

   [It was] so that Allah may punish the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the men and women who associate others with Him and that Allah may accept repentance from the believing men and believing women. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
