   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ١

   When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]

   وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ٢

   And when the stars fall, dispersing,

   وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ٣

   And when the mountains are removed

   وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ٤

   And when full-term she-camels are neglected

   وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ٥

   And when the wild beasts are gathered

   وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ٦

   And when the seas are filled with flame

   وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ٧

   And when the souls are paired

   وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ٨

   And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked

   بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍۢ قُتِلَتْ٩

   For what sin she was killed

   وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ١٠

   And when the pages are made public

   وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ١١

   And when the sky is stripped away

   وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ١٢

   And when Hellfire is set ablaze

   وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ١٣

   And when Paradise is brought near,

   عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ١٤

   A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].

   فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ١٥

   So I swear by the retreating stars -

   ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ١٦

   Those that run [their courses] and disappear -

   وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ١٧

   And by the night as it closes in

   وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ١٨

   And by the dawn when it breathes

   إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ١٩

   [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger

   ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍۢ٢٠

   [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],

   مُّطَاعٍۢ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍۢ٢١

   Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.

   وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍۢ٢٢

   And your companion is not [at all] mad.

   وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ٢٣

   And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon.

   وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍۢ٢٤

   And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.

   وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَٰنٍۢ رَّجِيمٍۢ٢٥

   And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].

   فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ٢٦

   So where are you going?

   إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌۭ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ٢٧

   It is not except a reminder to the worlds

   لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ٢٨

   For whoever wills among you to take a right course.

   وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ٢٩

   And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds.

3. Isha

   19:45

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   ٱلْحَآقَّةُ١

   The Inevitable Reality -

   مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ٢

   What is the Inevitable Reality?

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ٣

   And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?

   كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ٤

   Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity.

   فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ٥

   So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].

   وَأَمَّا عَادٌۭ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍۢ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍۢ٦

   And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind

   سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍۢ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًۭا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍۢ٧

   Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

   فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍۢ٨

   Then do you see of them any remains?

   وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ٩

   And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin.

   فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةًۭ رَّابِيَةً١٠

   And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].

   إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ١١

   Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship

   لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةًۭ وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌۭ وَٰعِيَةٌۭ١٢

   That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it.

   فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ١٣

   Then when the Horn is blown with one blast

   وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ١٤

   And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow -

   فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ١٥

   Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur,

   وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَاهِيَةٌۭ١٦

   And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.

   وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ ثَمَٰنِيَةٌۭ١٧

   And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].

   يَوْمَئِذٍۢ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌۭ١٨

   That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed.

   فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَٰبِيَهْ١٩

   So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record!

   إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ٢٠

   Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account."

   فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ٢١

   So he will be in a pleasant life -

   فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍۢ٢٢

   In an elevated garden,

   قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌۭ٢٣

   Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near.

   كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ٢٤

   [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past."

   وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهْ٢٥

   But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record

   وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ٢٦

   And had not known what is my account.

   يَٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ٢٧

   I wish my death had been the decisive one.

   مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ٢٨

   My wealth has not availed me.

   هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَٰنِيَهْ٢٩

   Gone from me is my authority."

   خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ٣٠

   [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him.

   ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ٣١

   Then into Hellfire drive him.

   ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍۢ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًۭا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ٣٢

   Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him."

   إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ٣٣

   Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great,

   وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ٣٤

   Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.

   فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌۭ٣٥

   So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend

   وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍۢ٣٦

   Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds;

   لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَٰطِـُٔونَ٣٧

   None will eat it except the sinners.

   فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ٣٨

   So I swear by what you see

   وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ٣٩

   And what you do not see

   إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ٤٠

   [That] indeed, the Qur'an is the word of a noble Messenger.
