   Read the passage · Abasa

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ١

   The Prophet frowned and turned away

   أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ٢

   Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].

   وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ٣

   But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified

   أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ٤

   Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?

   أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ٥

   As for he who thinks himself without need,

   فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ٦

   To him you give attention.

   وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ٧

   And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.

   وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ٨

   But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]

   وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ٩

   While he fears [Allah],

   فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ١٠

   From him you are distracted.

   كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌۭ١١

   No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;

   فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ١٢

   So whoever wills may remember it.

   فِى صُحُفٍۢ مُّكَرَّمَةٍۢ١٣

   [It is recorded] in honored sheets,

   مَّرْفُوعَةٍۢ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ١٤

   Exalted and purified,

   بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍۢ١٥

   [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,

   كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍۢ١٦

   Noble and dutiful.

   قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ١٧

   Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.

   مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ١٨

   From what substance did He create him?

   مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ١٩

   From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;

   ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ٢٠

   Then He eased the way for him;

   ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ٢١

   Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.

   ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ٢٢

   Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.

   كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ٢٣

   No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.

   فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ٢٤

   Then let mankind look at his food -

   أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّۭا٢٥

   How We poured down water in torrents,

   ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّۭا٢٦

   Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],

   فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّۭا٢٧

   And caused to grow within it grain

   وَعِنَبًۭا وَقَضْبًۭا٢٨

   And grapes and herbage

   وَزَيْتُونًۭا وَنَخْلًۭا٢٩

   And olive and palm trees

   وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًۭا٣٠

   And gardens of dense shrubbery

   وَفَٰكِهَةًۭ وَأَبًّۭا٣١

   And fruit and grass -

   مَّتَٰعًۭا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ٣٢

   [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.

   فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ٣٣

   But when there comes the Deafening Blast

   يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ٣٤

   On the Day a man will flee from his brother

   وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ٣٥

   And his mother and his father

   وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ٣٦

   And his wife and his children,

   لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ شَأْنٌۭ يُغْنِيهِ٣٧

   For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.

   وُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ مُّسْفِرَةٌۭ٣٨

   [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -

   ضَاحِكَةٌۭ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌۭ٣٩

   Laughing, rejoicing at good news.

   وَوُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌۭ٤٠

   And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.

   Read the passage · Al-Infitaar

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ١

   When the sky breaks apart

   وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ٢

   And when the stars fall, scattering,

   وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ٣

   And when the seas are erupted

   وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ٤

   And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,

   عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ٥

   A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.

   يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ٦

   O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,

   ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ٧

   Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?

   فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍۢ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ٨

   In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.

   كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ٩

   No! But you deny the Recompense.

   وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَٰفِظِينَ١٠

   And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,

   كِرَامًۭا كَٰتِبِينَ١١

   Noble and recording;

   يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ١٢

   They know whatever you do.

   إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍۢ١٣

   Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,

   وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍۢ١٤

   And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.

   يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ١٥

   They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,

   وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ١٦

   And never therefrom will they be absent.

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ١٧

   And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

   ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ١٨

   Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

   يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌۭ لِّنَفْسٍۢ شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلَّهِ١٩

   It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.

2. Maghrib

   17:39

   Al-Baqara 135–141

   Read the passage · Al-Baqara 135–141

   وَقَالُوا۟ كُونُوا۟ هُودًا أَوْ نَصَٰرَىٰ تَهْتَدُوا۟ ۗ قُلْ بَلْ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِۦمَ حَنِيفًۭا ۖ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ١٣٥

   They say, "Be Jews or Christians [so] you will be guided." Say, "Rather, [we follow] the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth, and he was not of the polytheists."

   قُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِۦمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَمَآ أُوتِىَ ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُسْلِمُونَ١٣٦

   Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

   فَإِنْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِمِثْلِ مَآ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦ فَقَدِ ٱهْتَدَوا۟ ۖ وَّإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّمَا هُمْ فِى شِقَاقٍۢ ۖ فَسَيَكْفِيكَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ١٣٧

   So if they believe in the same as you believe in, then they have been [rightly] guided; but if they turn away, they are only in dissension, and Allah will be sufficient for you against them. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

   صِبْغَةَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ صِبْغَةًۭ ۖ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ عَٰبِدُونَ١٣٨

   [And say, "Ours is] the religion of Allah. And who is better than Allah in [ordaining] religion? And we are worshippers of Him."

   قُلْ أَتُحَآجُّونَنَا فِى ٱللَّهِ وَهُوَ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمْ وَلَنَآ أَعْمَٰلُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُخْلِصُونَ١٣٩

   Say, [O Muhammad], "Do you argue with us about Allah while He is our Lord and your Lord? For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. And we are sincere [in deed and intention] to Him."

   أَمْ تَقُولُونَ إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِۦمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطَ كَانُوا۟ هُودًا أَوْ نَصَٰرَىٰ ۗ قُلْ ءَأَنتُمْ أَعْلَمُ أَمِ ٱللَّهُ ۗ وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَتَمَ شَهَٰدَةً عِندَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ١٤٠

   Or do you say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants were Jews or Christians? Say, "Are you more knowing or is Allah?" And who is more unjust than one who conceals a testimony he has from Allah? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

   تِلْكَ أُمَّةٌۭ قَدْ خَلَتْ ۖ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَلَكُم مَّا كَسَبْتُمْ ۖ وَلَا تُسْـَٔلُونَ عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ١٤١

   That is a nation which has passed on. It will have [the consequence of] what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do.

3. Isha

   19:09

   Read the passage · Al-Waaqia 57–96

   نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ٥٧

   We have created you, so why do you not believe?

   أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ٥٨

   Have you seen that which you emit?

   ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ٥٩

   Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

   نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ٦٠

   We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

   عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ٦١

   In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.

   وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ٦٢

   And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

   أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ٦٣

   And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

   ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ٦٤

   Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

   لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَٰهُ حُطَٰمًۭا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ٦٥

   If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,

   إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ٦٦

   [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

   بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ٦٧

   Rather, we have been deprived."

   أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ٦٨

   And have you seen the water that you drink?

   ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ٦٩

   Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

   لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَٰهُ أُجَاجًۭا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ٧٠

   If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

   أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ٧١

   And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

   ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ٧٢

   Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

   نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَٰهَا تَذْكِرَةًۭ وَمَتَٰعًۭا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ٧٣

   We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,

   فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ٧٤

   So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

   ۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ٧٥

   Then I swear by the setting of the stars,

   وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌۭ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ٧٦

   And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.

   إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌۭ كَرِيمٌۭ٧٧

   Indeed, it is a noble Qur'an

   فِى كِتَٰبٍۢ مَّكْنُونٍۢ٧٨

   In a Register well-protected;

   لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ٧٩

   None touch it except the purified.

   تَنزِيلٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ٨٠

   [It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

   أَفَبِهَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ٨١

   Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

   وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ٨٢

   And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?

   فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ٨٣

   Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat

   وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍۢ تَنظُرُونَ٨٤

   And you are at that time looking on -

   وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ٨٥

   And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -

   فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ٨٦

   Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,

   تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ٨٧

   Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

   فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ٨٨

   And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah,

   فَرَوْحٌۭ وَرَيْحَانٌۭ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍۢ٨٩

   Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.

   وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ٩٠

   And if he was of the companions of the right,

   فَسَلَٰمٌۭ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ٩١

   Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."

   وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ٩٢

   But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,

   فَنُزُلٌۭ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ٩٣

   Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water

   وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ٩٤

   And burning in Hellfire

   إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ٩٥

   Indeed, this is the true certainty,

   فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ٩٦

   So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
