   Read the passage · Aal-i-Imraan 130–148

   يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَأْكُلُوا۟ ٱلرِّبَوٰٓا۟ أَضْعَٰفًۭا مُّضَٰعَفَةًۭ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ١٣٠

   O you who have believed, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful.

   وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ١٣١

   And fear the Fire, which has been prepared for the disbelievers.

   وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ١٣٢

   And obey Allah and the Messenger that you may obtain mercy.

   ۞ وَسَارِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ١٣٣

   And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous

   ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِى ٱلسَّرَّآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَٱلْكَٰظِمِينَ ٱلْغَيْظَ وَٱلْعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ١٣٤

   Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good;

   وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا۟ فَٰحِشَةً أَوْ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ ذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ لِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَن يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَلَمْ يُصِرُّوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ١٣٥

   And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins - and who can forgive sins except Allah? - and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know.

   أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَجَنَّٰتٌۭ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَنِعْمَ أَجْرُ ٱلْعَٰمِلِينَ١٣٦

   Those - their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow [in Paradise], wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers.

   قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ سُنَنٌۭ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ١٣٧

   Similar situations [as yours] have passed on before you, so proceed throughout the earth and observe how was the end of those who denied.

   هَٰذَا بَيَانٌۭ لِّلنَّاسِ وَهُدًۭى وَمَوْعِظَةٌۭ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ١٣٨

   This [Qur'an] is a clear statement to [all] the people and a guidance and instruction for those conscious of Allah.

   وَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا۟ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَوْنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ١٣٩

   So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.

   إِن يَمْسَسْكُمْ قَرْحٌۭ فَقَدْ مَسَّ ٱلْقَوْمَ قَرْحٌۭ مِّثْلُهُۥ ۚ وَتِلْكَ ٱلْأَيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَيَتَّخِذَ مِنكُمْ شُهَدَآءَ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ١٤٠

   If a wound should touch you - there has already touched the [opposing] people a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people so that Allah may make evident those who believe and [may] take to Himself from among you martyrs - and Allah does not like the wrongdoers -

   وَلِيُمَحِّصَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَيَمْحَقَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ١٤١

   And that Allah may purify the believers [through trials] and destroy the disbelievers.

   أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تَدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَيَعْلَمَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ١٤٢

   Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while Allah has not yet made evident those of you who fight in His cause and made evident those who are steadfast?

   وَلَقَدْ كُنتُمْ تَمَنَّوْنَ ٱلْمَوْتَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَلْقَوْهُ فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ١٤٣

   And you had certainly wished for martyrdom before you encountered it, and you have [now] seen it [before you] while you were looking on.

   وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌۭ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ ۚ أَفَإِي۟ن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ ۚ وَمَن يَنقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًۭٔا ۗ وَسَيَجْزِى ٱللَّهُ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ١٤٤

   Muhammad is not but a messenger. [Other] messengers have passed on before him. So if he was to die or be killed, would you turn back on your heels [to unbelief]? And he who turns back on his heels will never harm Allah at all; but Allah will reward the grateful.

   وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفْسٍ أَن تَمُوتَ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ كِتَٰبًۭا مُّؤَجَّلًۭا ۗ وَمَن يُرِدْ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِهِۦ مِنْهَا وَمَن يُرِدْ ثَوَابَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ نُؤْتِهِۦ مِنْهَا ۚ وَسَنَجْزِى ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ١٤٥

   And it is not [possible] for one to die except by permission of Allah at a decree determined. And whoever desires the reward of this world - We will give him thereof; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter - We will give him thereof. And we will reward the grateful.

   وَكَأَيِّن مِّن نَّبِىٍّۢ قَٰتَلَ مَعَهُۥ رِبِّيُّونَ كَثِيرٌۭ فَمَا وَهَنُوا۟ لِمَآ أَصَابَهُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا ضَعُفُوا۟ وَمَا ٱسْتَكَانُوا۟ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ١٤٦

   And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken or submit. And Allah loves the steadfast.

   وَمَا كَانَ قَوْلَهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا ٱغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِىٓ أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَٱنصُرْنَا عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ١٤٧

   And their words were not but that they said, "Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people."

   فَـَٔاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَحُسْنَ ثَوَابِ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ١٤٨

   So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the good reward of the Hereafter. And Allah loves the doers of good.

2. Jumu'ah

   12:22

   Read the passage · At-Takaathur

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ١

   Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you

   حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ٢

   Until you visit the graveyards.

   كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ٣

   No! You are going to know.

   ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ٤

   Then no! You are going to know.

   كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ٥

   No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...

   لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ٦

   You will surely see the Hellfire.

   ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ٧

   Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.

   ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ٨

   Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   وَٱلْعَصْرِ١

   By time,

   إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ٢

   Indeed, mankind is in loss,

   إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ٣

   Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

   18:38

   Read the passage · Al-Israa 13–17

   وَكُلَّ إِنسَٰنٍ أَلْزَمْنَٰهُ طَٰٓئِرَهُۥ فِى عُنُقِهِۦ ۖ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ كِتَٰبًۭا يَلْقَىٰهُ مَنشُورًا١٣

   And [for] every person We have imposed his fate upon his neck, and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will encounter spread open.

   ٱقْرَأْ كِتَٰبَكَ كَفَىٰ بِنَفْسِكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيبًۭا١٤

   [It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant."

   مَّنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِى لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌۭ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۗ وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّىٰ نَبْعَثَ رَسُولًۭا١٥

   Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We sent a messenger.

   وَإِذَآ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُوا۟ فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا ٱلْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَٰهَا تَدْمِيرًۭا١٦

   And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its affluent but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word comes into effect upon it, and We destroy it with [complete] destruction.

   وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ نُوحٍۢ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرًۢا بَصِيرًۭا١٧

   And how many have We destroyed from the generations after Noah. And sufficient is your Lord, concerning the sins of His servants, as Acquainted and Seeing.

   Read the passage · Ash-Shu'araa 69–104

   وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ٦٩

   And recite to them the news of Abraham,

   إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ٧٠

   When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"

   قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًۭا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَٰكِفِينَ٧١

   They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."

   قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ٧٢

   He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?

   أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ٧٣

   Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"

   قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ٧٤

   They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."

   قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ٧٥

   He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,

   أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ٧٦

   You and your ancient forefathers?

   فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّۭ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ٧٧

   Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,

   ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ٧٨

   Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.

   وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ٧٩

   And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.

   وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ٨٠

   And when I am ill, it is He who cures me

   وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ٨١

   And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life

   وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ٨٢

   And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."

   رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًۭا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ٨٣

   [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.

   وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍۢ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ٨٤

   And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations.

   وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ٨٥

   And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.

   وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ٨٦

   And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.

   وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ٨٧

   And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -

   يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌۭ وَلَا بَنُونَ٨٨

   The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children

   إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍۢ٨٩

   But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."

   وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ٩٠

   And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.

   وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ٩١

   And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,

   وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ٩٢

   And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship

   مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ٩٣

   Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?"

   فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ٩٤

   So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators

   وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ٩٥

   And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.

   قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ٩٦

   They will say while they dispute therein,

   تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍ٩٧

   "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error

   إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ٩٨

   When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.

   وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ٩٩

   And no one misguided us except the criminals.

   فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَٰفِعِينَ١٠٠

   So now we have no intercessors

   وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍۢ١٠١

   And not a devoted friend.

   فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةًۭ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ١٠٢

   Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... "

   إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ١٠٣

   Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

   وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ١٠٤

   And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
