How to make a Quran WhatsApp status video

A short vertical video of a few ayat, with the Arabic and its meaning on screen, made on your phone for free and posted to your WhatsApp status.

Choose a short passage

A status is watched in a few seconds, so pick a few ayat rather than a whole surah: an ayah you love, the close of a surah, or a passage from a prayer at Masjid al-Haram. Fifteen to thirty seconds is plenty.

You need no file of your own. In the Hasanah studio, choose a famous reciter and the ayat you want, or pick a prayer from Makkah; or upload a recording from your phone.

Make it in the studio

Open the studio on your phone. The ayat are found and timed for you, each word lit as it is recited. Keep the 9:16 frame, which fills a phone screen, choose a look, and if you like add a translation under the Arabic.

Trim the start and end on the timeline so the status begins on the first word. Everything is made on your own phone, with no account and no watermark you did not choose.

Save it and post it

Save the video. On an iPhone, choose Save to Photos and then Save Video; on Android it is saved to your downloads and appears in your gallery.

In WhatsApp, open Updates (or Status), add a status, and pick the video. If WhatsApp offers to trim it, keep the ayat whole. Watch it through once before posting: recognition is automatic, and the Quran deserves care.
