How to listen to live Quran from Makkah

Open the live player

Choose Listen live to open the Makkah broadcast and Quran reader together. The broadcast comes from the Aloula Quran channel. QuranMecca adds a reading companion that tries to identify the surah and ayah being recited.

If your browser does not start the sound automatically, press the play control at the top of the page. Check the volume control and your device volume if the player is running but you cannot hear it. Headphones can help you hear the recitation clearly without increasing the volume.

Follow the Arabic and English

When Quran recitation is detected, the reader moves to the matching passage. The Arabic text and English translation help you follow the words and their meanings together. The broadcast may also contain prayer, announcements, or other audio that does not correspond to a Quran verse.

Automatic detection is a listening aid. It can take a moment to recognize a new passage, and it can occasionally identify the wrong ayah. If something looks out of step, allow a little time for the next detection and check the passage in the Quran library.

Adjust the reader

Open Settings to choose a light or dark theme, change the Arabic font and text size, and adjust the translation display. On a wider screen, choose a layout with the stream beside or above the reader. Hide the stream when you want more space for the text.

The live reader includes a sleep timer for a listening session. Set a duration in Settings, or cancel the timer if you want to keep listening. Device and browser restrictions can still interrupt playback when the screen locks or the browser moves to the background.

Read without the broadcast

The Quran library is separate from the live broadcast. Open any surah to read the complete Arabic text with English translation, jump to a particular ayah, and save a reading place in this browser. Return to Listen live whenever you want to follow the broadcast again.
