   Read the passage · Al-Muddaththir

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُ١

   O you who covers himself [with a garment],

   قُمْ فَأَنذِرْ٢

   Arise and warn

   وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ٣

   And your Lord glorify

   وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ٤

   And your clothing purify

   وَٱلرُّجْزَ فَٱهْجُرْ٥

   And uncleanliness avoid

   وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُ٦

   And do not confer favor to acquire more

   وَلِرَبِّكَ فَٱصْبِرْ٧

   But for your Lord be patient.

   فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِى ٱلنَّاقُورِ٨

   And when the trumpet is blown,

   فَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ٩

   That Day will be a difficult day

   عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍۢ١٠

   For the disbelievers - not easy.

   ذَرْنِى وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًۭا١١

   Leave Me with the one I created alone

   وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُۥ مَالًۭا مَّمْدُودًۭا١٢

   And to whom I granted extensive wealth

   وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًۭا١٣

   And children present [with him]

   وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُۥ تَمْهِيدًۭا١٤

   And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life].

   ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ١٥

   Then he desires that I should add more.

   كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِءَايَٰتِنَا عَنِيدًۭا١٦

   No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate.

   سَأُرْهِقُهُۥ صَعُودًا١٧

   I will cover him with arduous torment.

   إِنَّهُۥ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ١٨

   Indeed, he thought and deliberated.

   فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ١٩

   So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

   ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ٢٠

   Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

   ثُمَّ نَظَرَ٢١

   Then he considered [again];

   ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ٢٢

   Then he frowned and scowled;

   ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ٢٣

   Then he turned back and was arrogant

   فَقَالَ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ يُؤْثَرُ٢٤

   And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others].

   إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا قَوْلُ ٱلْبَشَرِ٢٥

   This is not but the word of a human being."

   سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ٢٦

   I will drive him into Saqar.

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سَقَرُ٢٧

   And what can make you know what is Saqar?

   لَا تُبْقِى وَلَا تَذَرُ٢٨

   It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned],

   لَوَّاحَةٌۭ لِّلْبَشَرِ٢٩

   Blackening the skins.

   عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ٣٠

   Over it are nineteen [angels].

   وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَٰٓئِكَةًۭ ۙ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِيمَٰنًۭا ۙ وَلَا يَرْتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۙ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلًۭا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَمَا هِىَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ٣١

   And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity.

   كَلَّا وَٱلْقَمَرِ٣٢

   No! By the moon

   وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ٣٣

   And [by] the night when it departs

   وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَآ أَسْفَرَ٣٤

   And [by] the morning when it brightens,

   إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى ٱلْكُبَرِ٣٥

   Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions]

   نَذِيرًۭا لِّلْبَشَرِ٣٦

   As a warning to humanity -

   لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ٣٧

   To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind.

   كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ٣٨

   Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained

   إِلَّآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْيَمِينِ٣٩

   Except the companions of the right,

   فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ٤٠

   [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other

   Read the passage · Al-Balad

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ١

   I swear by this city, Makkah -

   وَأَنتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ٢

   And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city -

   وَوَالِدٍۢ وَمَا وَلَدَ٣

   And [by] the father and that which was born [of him],

   لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ٤

   We have certainly created man into hardship.

   أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌۭ٥

   Does he think that never will anyone overcome him?

   يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًۭا لُّبَدًا٦

   He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance."

   أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ٧

   Does he think that no one has seen him?

   أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ٨

   Have We not made for him two eyes?

   وَلِسَانًۭا وَشَفَتَيْنِ٩

   And a tongue and two lips?

   وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ١٠

   And have shown him the two ways?

   فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ١١

   But he has not broken through the difficult pass.

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ١٢

   And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?

   فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ١٣

   It is the freeing of a slave

   أَوْ إِطْعَٰمٌۭ فِى يَوْمٍۢ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍۢ١٤

   Or feeding on a day of severe hunger

   يَتِيمًۭا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ١٥

   An orphan of near relationship

   أَوْ مِسْكِينًۭا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍۢ١٦

   Or a needy person in misery

   ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ١٧

   And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.

   أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ١٨

   Those are the companions of the right.

   وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ١٩

   But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left.

   عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌۭ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ٢٠

   Over them will be fire closed in.

   Read the passage · At-Tin

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   وَٱلتِّينِ وَٱلزَّيْتُونِ١

   By the fig and the olive

   وَطُورِ سِينِينَ٢

   And [by] Mount Sinai

   وَهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ٱلْأَمِينِ٣

   And [by] this secure city [Makkah],

   لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ فِىٓ أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍۢ٤

   We have certainly created man in the best of stature;

   ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَٰهُ أَسْفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ٥

   Then We return him to the lowest of the low,

   إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۢ٦

   Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.

   فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِٱلدِّينِ٧

   So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense?

   أَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ ٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ٨

   Is not Allah the most just of judges?

3. Isha

   20:28

   Read the passage · Al-Qamar 40–55

   وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ٤٠

   And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

   وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ٤١

   And there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning.

   كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍ٤٢

   They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability.

   أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌۭ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ٤٣

   Are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scripture?

   أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌۭ مُّنتَصِرٌۭ٤٤

   Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]"?

   سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ٤٥

   [Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat].

   بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ٤٦

   But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter.

   إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ وَسُعُرٍۢ٤٧

   Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness.

   يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ٤٨

   The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar."

   إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَٰهُ بِقَدَرٍۢ٤٩

   Indeed, all things We created with predestination.

   وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌۭ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ٥٠

   And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye.

   وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ٥١

   And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember?

   وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍۢ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ٥٢

   And everything they did is in written records.

   وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍۢ وَكَبِيرٍۢ مُّسْتَطَرٌ٥٣

   And every small and great [thing] is inscribed.

   إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَهَرٍۢ٥٤

   Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,

   فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ٥٥

   In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability.

   Read the passage · Al-Infitaar 13–19

   إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍۢ١٣

   Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,

   وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍۢ١٤

   And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.

   يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ١٥

   They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,

   وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ١٦

   And never therefrom will they be absent.

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ١٧

   And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

   ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ١٨

   Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

   يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌۭ لِّنَفْسٍۢ شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلَّهِ١٩

   It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.
